HISTORy

Our family has long been rooted in Traben-Trarbach and the wine business – first as merchants and later in viticulture. Ulrich Langguth recently passed the baton of managing the business to Patrick U. Langguth and his family. We remain committed to nurturing the cultural heritage of the Moselle and to cultivating historical steep- and steepest-slope sites to produce Riesling wines, as we have for generations. We will strive to improve the quality of our wines within the boundary’s nature allows. To celebrate the seamless generational transition, we gave the brand a facelift and used our 2020 vintage to launch a new website and introduce a new logo and redesigned labels.

The showcase what lies close to our hearts – harvesting grapes on steep- and steepest-slopes by hand – the labels prominently display 12°, 36° and 50°. The numbers correspond to the inclines of the slopes where the grapes are harvested as well as to our internal classification system. The numbers also align with the classification of each wine within a grape variety: 12° – Basic estate wines; 36° – Premium and super Premium; 50° – Top (limited quantities from the steepest slopes)
